I think of Plateau, I also think of a duck. Most people don’t like, are indifferent, or have never had duck. Some people love duck. I think most people never cared to try. I tried to catch a duck when I was 5 to either pet it or kill it. There’s a picture of me, wearing a mainly yellow outfit – how Asian – purchased by my mom most likely at Goodwill for less than $1 in 1980 whatever. I look ridiculous, but I also loved David the Gnome and the Power Rangers when it came out. The things I would have loved to do with the pink ranger, though that would probably be jumping up and down and not understanding what I’m feeling. Now, I look back, she’s not that pretty. She’s kinda beat – like fell asleep on a roof and fell down a few floors and survived.
Plateau is also a state you reach when you maxed out at what you do. In World of Warcraft, people slaughter other races (elven, black, asian, italian, orc) so they gain more power and level up until they reach their level limitation (max out 99, or something like that)
In reality, we play sports until we’re as good as we can get. For months or years, we’re stuck at the not becoming significantly better.
Some people never reach their plateau – they never max out at their given constraints. How can you substantially grow if you never become as great as you can? Do you think you’ve never maxed out? Think again. If you never obtained greatness, you probably quit or not work hard enough to even get there. We shouldn’t try to TALK like Obama, make small businesses pay more tax and make minorities look like underachievers. If you have obtained greatness, congratulations! So, I ask again, what can you do to reach your plateau?
Answer: Be aware that you haven’t yet, and keep your trial and error game up until you get it right. Do it a certain way, then tweak it, then try again. Repeat 1000 times until you can’t feel you are growing.
And when you reach your plateau, you’ll know. And in order for you to break through, door kicking style, uzi’s in hand, gangsters following – you’ll need to have something substantial happen to you.
We’re lucky when we hit that mark, but we shouldn’t settle when we do, or you’ll get older and look back, talk to someone younger, and say “I wish I was that young so I could…”
Note: If it ain’t about getting better, then ask for minimum wage, find some good boxes to live in, settle for less and say you never wished you could dive in a pile of money. Though coins would be murderous, like the Pink Power ranger’s face.
